A New Deal June 7, 2008

There are so many things I want to blog about right now, but first comes first.

So the Atlanta Volta show got rescheduled to September. This time I have a ride, and permission to go. So I bought a ticket for that show. I got ticket insurance so I can get a refund at any time, because the person said that there’s a slim chance something may happen and he wouldn’t be able to go.  After I bought the ticket, they called me and let me know that The Volta are playing in North Carolina the night before, and that would be a better concert to go to. Smaller venue, safer part of town, somewhat shorter drive.

So, the plan is this. I am keeping my Atlanta ticket. I just bought a North Carolina ticket. Once the Atlanta show sells out (it will.) I’ll sell this ticket either on eBay or over The Comatorium, The Mars Volta message board. I’ll probably get about 50-75 dollars out of that deal, and I might break even and get to go to the Volta show, losing no money. If the ticket doesn’t sell, I just use my ticket insurance and get a full refund.

Sounds good.

So, it’s official that I’m not going to the Mars Volta concert. My parents don’t want to take the risk of me being driven by my 20 year old cousin in Atlanta, one of the biggest cites in the world. (Says my dad.) So I’m gonna try and not ramble on about it anymore, and stick to more important stuff, instead of blubbering.

So here’s the deal on the Mars Volta concert I’ve been oogling over for months. My parents don’t want to drive me to Atlanta. Because it’s a 5 hour drive, and they are very lazy. So, we had this great idea. My cousin is a cool guy, and he lives exactly in the middle of the trip from here to Atlanta. He’s a Volta fan, too, so the idea was this: my parents drive me to his house, then his brother drive both of us the rest of the way and we go to the show together. Sounds great.

Problem. I find out that the show sold out a week after tickets went on sale, about a month ago. So I go looking for scalpers. I found a really nice guy who has 4 tickets, but then couldn’t afford gas money to go, so he’s selling his tickets for 50 dollars a pop. 100 dollars for two people to go to a Volta show is definitely worth it to me, so I tell him I’m planning on buying two tickets after I get a green light from my cousin’s parents.

Then, tornadoes hit Atlanta. They hit the venue that The Mars Volta were going to play at, and theres some minor water damage, and almost all the windows are broken. The venue has confirmed nothing about any concerts for the future. So, the possibilities are this: they reschedule the concert and let people use their old tickets for the new one, move the concert to a different venue,  cancel the concert and reimburse all money to the ticket buyers, or cancel the concert and don’t reimburse all money to the ticket buyers.

So, the show is in two weeks. The guy who’s going to sell me the tickets is going to have to mail them to me, because he doesn’t live in my state. The tickets will probably take about 3 or 4 days to get to me, so I really have about a week to make a decision on whether or not to buy the tickets. And I’m not making a decision until the venue (The Tabernacle, Atlanta) confirms what exactly is happening to my Mars Volta show.

It seems like at least once a year I get in trouble really bad for something minor but blows up into something major. I am now in a lot worse trouble than I have been for the last few days and now I’ll robably be a crappy bloggert for a good while. I don’t really have time to write tonight seeing as I’m at a friends house and he’s leaning over my shoulder reading out loud every word I type as I type it, but I’ll be sure to give you the whole story behind my grounding tomorrow. It’s kind of a long story. But as of now I am grounded indefinitely from my iPod, camera, laptop, and hopefully not but possibly soon, Wii, and my best bet at when I’ll get all that back will be at the end of February. Which will make weekend blogging very difficult and will drive me insane. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. The only thing I’m sincerely worried about is if I’ll be able to go to The Mars Volta show. Well, got to go. Bye.

On April 5th, I will finally get the chance to see The Mars Volta in concert. It’s been proven that if The Mars Volta comes to a town near you and you don’t go, a part of your soul actually dies. It’s a science fact. The problem here is that it’s a state away from me, in Atlanta, GA, which is about a 5 hour drive. I might be able to convince my parents to take me if I drive most of the way. Mom says that the only way I can go is if we go to Atlanta for the weekend, and if the concert it even on the weekend. Luckily for me, It’s a Saturday. Check one. Now I just need to beg and plead and beg and plead some more to go. Tickets are $35 a pop, I can make that. Transportation is my only problem. On another note, I think that once I get ungrounded, my blogs for a few days will consist of videos that I’ve taken with with my camera in the last few days. I have some funny ones. See you tomorrow. Being grounded really makes you look forward to blogging.
